In my program collage, I decided to focus on bridging the gap between designers. Designers include artists, architects, photographers, interior designers, textile designers, creative designers, etc. To the left of my collage, I used a painting in the background to show multiple ideas that color brings to a piece of artwork. The bright yellows, blues, and reds are the primary colors in the piece which are trichromatic to the human eye. Artists such as Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, and Billy Apple paved a way for designers to be more creative with everyday textures and express themselves thru visual aids. On the right of my collage, I used an Art Deco painting with very powerful rectilinear shapes as well as a woman's silhouette. Architects such as Le Corbusier, Santiago Calatrava, and Frank Lloyd Wright opened the doors to create iconic rectilinear spaces that have influenced the architectural designers of today. The silhouette of the woman's body relates more to Calatrava because his work always shows movement.
The wavelength in the center of the collage is what I want to essentially accomplish with my program. I want designers of any kind to be able to express themselves visually with unlimited space to show creative genius. I have not recently seen another space that embraces our pioneers of art and also incorporates our future designers in one space other than a museum. I plan to create a space that local as well as international artists can come to a place in New York City to engage with fellow individuals that appreciate designing and expressing themselves thru visual aids. These spaces will include large studio spaces to have seminars and classrooms to educate designer on new innovations. I also want to include overnight lounging for those who want to engage in multiple activities on site.

Concept Design (Edge)
For my "edge" collage, I decided to focus on the feeling I get from the word. On the lower right, there is a lotus flower that represents the presence of love and forgiveness. As humans, we seek these things to fulfill our life so in essence we are looking to become more like the flower. As the flower has some pointed edges, we are still willing to touch. Moving closer to the left, you start to see an outline of a person who is slowly being destroyed, little by little. The scattered pieces of this person starts to show as broken pieces of glass and become more appealing to know about. The hand is more willing to touch those edges without understanding why this person has scattered edges but is intrigued by the unknown. Even though we know that the edges of a flower are more delicate to the touch, there is a sense of finding out the unknown of the flower that is a person who has many edges that may be sharp to even cut.
Concept Design (Site)
In my site collage, I decided to create the feeling of what is currently occurring in the Red Hook area. I decided to use a gradient in the background to show the past and the future of the area. After Hurricane Sandy, a lot of cities affected by this super storm were left in ruins. As of today, Red Hook is not back to its original landscape so I used a wavelength of smoke on top of the background to show the multiple ups and downs after the "smoke" cleared and the neighborhood had to pick up the pieces. I also used puzzle pieces to signify that this neighborhood has so many pieces to put together. The scale of the pieces are also large in the beginning but the closer you get to fitting them in, the easier it gets to filling in the blanks. I also used the color red because red is such a powerful color in terms of awareness and the Red Hook area to me was unknown prior to our site visit. After experiencing this area for a small amount of time, I realized that the area itself is not just an abandoned space but a place that was over looked by many that were not paying attention.
